Here we have the first Tartar Sauce story arc. These strips were published in SMU’s Daily Campus newspaper from February to April 2000, and feature the introduction of the main cast: Matt, Andy and of course, Beanie Maul. In addition, Beanie Maul’s apprentice, Adam, makes his first and last appearance. The SMU-specific humor is more prevalent here than in later stories, so please forgive me if you don’t get some of the jokes. And while the art does improve dramatically over this arc, it still feels a little clunky and weird.
